ZAZA CERAMICS Utensil Pot
Zaza Ceramics studio pottery are porcelain ceramic pieces. Each vessel is hand thrown on potter’s wheel in West Yorkshire, UK. Local minerals and oxides are collected and mixed into an 'engobe', which is then painted like a slip onto the surface of the piece. Delicate metric spaces are hand carved out of the clay into patterns with sgraffito tools. Forming a sense of topographical poetry, the paintings and marks process the rhythms of walking across a landscape. The final glaze firing is oxidised to 1280 degrees, glazed in transparent on the inside for functionality, and sometimes glazed on the outside for more functional-wares.
